Check out 5-8-80, one of my favorites. Actually it is a great all around show.

Also love the LS/ST from 8-1-82, as far as i've heard, it's the only saint that jams after the I'mm gonna go for it section and then comes back to the vocals. The Playin>Aiko>Ls>St>drums>space>wheel>Playin is epic

late 80's gives you the best of the Go To Heaven stuff

http://www.archive.org/details/gd80-11-30.sbd-aud.sacks.2416.sbeok.shnf

gives you, from top to bottom, as good a Lost/Saint as you will find.

I will find a Saint with a slightly better jam though, give me a little while.

BTW, the Deal from ths show is a top ten performance, any year, any song. The Loser is a best ever version - Jerry nails you to the wall, then kicks you in the brain.

hey cliff here's a couple the first one from 8-10-82 http://www.archive.org/details/gd82-08-10.sbd.miller.12453.sbeok.shnf the next one from across the pond 10-19-81 more for the saint the sailor does start a little off but jerry has some great licks on saint http://www.archive.org/details/gd81-10-19.sbd.macdonald.7914.sbeok.shnf 4-17-82 mention earlier is pretty good and while your in 82 8-6-82 is a solid version with a few warts.a few from 79 are killer but for the life of me i can't recall the dates,i know it's in the fall 79 they turn out some killer ones.later

Thanks everyone, these should get the job done!

Im afraid I have to agree with JOTS though, they do seem to sound the same, and I had to wash em' all down with a 68 Shrine show!

Guess Cliff did deserve a wisecrack or two...

what in heavens posessed you to look for that Cliff? I HAVE to know. IF you are going to be brave enough to venture into the 80's why not an Althea? One of THE best later tunes. Oh wait you like the jams, how about that Dark Star with the Kesey rap from 10-31-91. If that doesn't make your hair stand up then you're even scarier.

Saint has always been a "lucky" song for Cliff.

"Holes in whats left of my reason, holes in the knees of my blues, odds against me been increasing, but Ill pull through"

When my back is up against the wall, chips down, I listen to Saint and things tend to work out for me...

Well I certainly hope it cured whatever is ailing you and you're now back on your feet.

Did you pick a version you liked best? ( it was mine wasn't it? You can say so, I won't tell the others ).

Honestly, you were right, they all sounded pretty much the same! Tigerbolts Barcelona show surprised me, though. Ive never been a fan of that tour.

Anyway, it still pains me to listen to these post 77 shows :)

OK I 'm also partial to the early 80's LS.SoC 8-28-81 .But Check (9-26-91} For something that could have been.

Not saying it's the best but try 4-17-82. LS>SoC>spanish jam helps nicely. Oh yeah, a Shakedown second set opener.

Old thread but I just need to throw 9.01.79 and 10.27.79 as the best saint circumstance's. No contest.

Here's one of my favorites and a show that is overlooked:

http://www.archive.org/details/gd82-08-06.sbd-patched.hinko.16043.sbeok.shnf

Great overall show. Funny I listen to almost nothing but 60/70's Dead. A friend of mine asked me about 1982 shows and started trading and downloading them here and there. I am finding there are some amazing shows that year. Close-mindedness never gets you anywhere. Underrated year IMO. Check this one out if you have the time.

Where's the real Cliff and what did you do with him? ( did you REALLY expect no wise cracks? )

Most of them all sound the same to me but I recall this being a good one

Cliff also try 10-10-82. I like it because it has my fav version of Crazy Fingers which jams into lost sailor.
